EGYPT – A country steeped in five thousand years of incredible history and which immediately evokes thoughts of pyramids, pharaohs, gods, and ancient treasures. It is a country with an ancient civilization whose lifeblood even through to today, is closely intertwined with that of the majestic Nile River. However, things are changing rapidly and fast-forward to the 21st Century and you will find an Egypt that is currently undergoing an unprecedented, economic transformation that remains one of the marvels of the modern world.
With a population now over 100 million people, Egypt has embarked on an amazing path of development, with the construction of a new grandiose Administrative Capital in the desert, east of Cairo, whilst simultaneously also constructing 14 other brand-new cities too. Key pillars of the Egyptian economy include tourism, agriculture, industry, and a large service sector.
A national health insurance plan offering universal coverage that has been planned for several years is now being implemented, promising widespread change to the nation’s administration of care. Egypt has also just inaugurated the first of its kind and one of the largest pharmaceutical cities in the Middle East, (Gypto Pharma City in Khanka in Greater Cairo) as the country seeks to become a regional center for the manufacture of medicines and for export of medicines to Africa and the eastern Mediterranean countries, at competitive prices relative to other products.
