Decentralization has the primary goal of making clinical trial participation as easy as possible, enabling participants to continue with their day-to-day lives with minimal disruption. Traditional methods of conducting clinical trials prohibits participation by several willing patients. This brings in huge challenges in recruitment and retention and introduces greater bias in the generalizability of the clinical trial’s findings.

The need for a rapid response during the COVID-19 pandemic paved way for strategy changes, alternate technology choices and acceptance from regulators and leap into the next generation of clinical trials. The rapid transformation during the recent past has led to fast, efficient, reliable, and trusted ways of conducting clinical trials leveraging appropriate technology.
