Dr. Atif Mirza is a clinical professional with an international portfolio of experience that includes over 20 years of clinical practice in the UK and Asia, and 18+ years as one of the leading Pharmaceutical Physicians.
He has worked at Director Level in the international companies, Pharmacia (now part of Pfizer) and GSK, where he was at the forefront of ensuring medical validity of scientific, educational, & promotional information, assessing the medical impact of drugs proposed for licensing, training potential investigators regarding good clinical practices (GCP) and a variety of topics for clinical trials. He has extensive experience supervising phase II – IV trials and has been a certified trainer for investigators (Investigator Support Initiative). As a pharmaceutical physician and physician responsible for pharmacovigilance having scientific and medical professional knowledge he assured the efficacy and safety of medications in the market and in the clinical research pipeline.
Dr. Mirza balances his professional activities with academics and has taught Clinical Pharmacology to the pharmacy students and has served as a member of Internal Medicine faculty in a medical school. He also volunteers his time serving as a member of the Inspection Committee of the Ministry of Health for Bioequivalence Centers and GCP. Dr. Mirza was granted an affiliate membership of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom by the College of Physians.
Dr. Mirza completed his medical education from the renowned King Edward Medical College and post-graduate training in general medicine, pulmonary (chest) disease and cardiology (heart) disease in the United Kingdom and Pakistan. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI) and holds diplomas in Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases (DTCD) and Business Administration (PGDBA) from University of The Punjab.
